About this seal
A Firmenstempel is the everyday business stamp of a German company. No law requires a GmbH or sole trader to own one, but it is so customary that many forms have a box marked for it, and a signature beside the stamp is how many offices expect documents to arrive. It is almost always rectangular and one colour — blue or black — with the registered name including its legal form (GmbH, UG, e.K.), the business address, and optionally phone, e-mail, the USt-IdNr. or the Handelsregister entry.

Is a Firmenstempel legally required in Germany?
No. There is no general legal duty to own or use a company stamp. It is a strong convention, and some counterparties ask for it, but the signature of an authorised person is what makes a document binding.
What belongs on a German company stamp?
Usually the full company name with its legal form and the business address. Phone, e-mail, website, VAT ID (USt-IdNr.) or tax number are common optional lines. Keep it to four or five lines so each stays readable at stamp size.
What size is a typical Firmenstempel?
Common self-inking stamps have a plate of roughly 47 × 18 mm up to 58 × 22 mm. Set the width in millimetres in the editor so a printed or PDF copy matches your physical stamp.
