About this seal

As in Germany, no Austrian law obliges a business to own a stamp, but “Stempel und Unterschrift” is still expected on many forms, delivery notes and confirmations. An Austrian Firmenstempel differs from a German one mainly in its identifiers: the Firmenbuchnummer (FN, digits followed by a check letter) from the commercial register, and the UID-Nummer — the VAT ID in the format ATU followed by eight digits.

Common uses

  • Forms with a box for “Stempel und Unterschrift”
  • Delivery notes and goods-received confirmations
  • Quotes and invoices sent as PDF
  • Letters to banks, landlords and authorities

How to create it

  1. Open the template — the rectangular Firmenstempel layout is pre-applied.
  2. Replace Muster GmbH with your company name and legal form.
  3. Edit the street, postcode and town.
  4. Enter your FN and UID number.
  5. Export a transparent PNG, SVG or PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Is a Firmenstempel required in Austria?

No. It is customary rather than mandatory; a document is binding through the signature of an authorised person.

What is the difference between FN and UID?

The FN (Firmenbuchnummer) identifies the company in the Austrian commercial register. The UID-Nummer (ATU + 8 digits) is its VAT identification number.

Legal & usage

Stamps render in your browser for design and demonstration. A stamp adds no legal authority of its own — the signature is what binds — and it must only show the FN and UID of a business you represent.
