About this seal

Australian law does not require a company to own a stamp. It does require the company's name and its ACN — or an ABN that contains the ACN — on public documents such as invoices, letters and order forms, and a stamp is the quick way to add them to paperwork that wasn't printed with them. The ACN is the 9-digit number ASIC issues when a company is registered; the ABN is the 11-digit number from the Australian Business Register, and for a company it is normally the ACN with two check digits in front. If the business is registered for GST, the same stamp is often used next to a TAX INVOICE heading: a tax invoice has to show the seller's identity and ABN, and GST-registered suppliers must provide one within 28 days when a customer asks for it for a taxable sale over $82.50 including GST. The editor also has trustee (ATF), sole-trader and tax-invoice presets for those variants.

Common uses

  • Invoices, quotes and delivery dockets that need the ABN and ACN
  • Tax invoices issued by GST-registered businesses
  • Bank, supplier-onboarding and customs paperwork
  • Forms and letters from overseas counterparties that ask for a company stamp

How to create it

  1. Open the template — the rectangular stamp layout is pre-applied.
  2. Replace SAMPLE PTY LTD with the company name exactly as it appears on the ASIC register.
  3. Enter the ABN (2-3-3-3 digit groups) and the ACN (3-3-3).
  4. Edit the street, suburb, state abbreviation and postcode, then add a phone number if you want one.
  5. Export a transparent PNG, SVG or PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Does an Australian company need a company stamp?

No. A stamp is optional. What the Corporations Act requires is the company name and ACN (or an ABN that includes the ACN) on public documents; a stamp is one way of adding them.

What is the difference between an ABN and an ACN?

The ACN is a 9-digit company number issued by ASIC. The ABN is an 11-digit business number from the Australian Business Register used for tax and GST; for a company it is usually the ACN with two leading check digits.

Can I use the stamp on a tax invoice?

Yes, as long as the invoice itself carries the details the ATO lists — the words tax invoice, your identity and ABN, the date, what was sold and the GST. The tax-invoice preset in the editor puts the heading, name, ABN and "Total price includes GST" on one stamp.

Legal & usage

Stamps render in your browser for design and demonstration; nothing you type is uploaded. A stamp adds no legal authority in Australia — the company is bound by authorised signatures. Only show the ABN and ACN of a business you are authorised to act for, and look numbers up on ABN Lookup rather than copying them from old paperwork.
