The kakujirushi ("square seal") is a company's everyday business seal, used on issued documents such as invoices (請求書), quotations (見積書) and receipts (領収書). It is square and larger than the round maru-in, showing the full company name often followed by 之印. Unlike the registered round company seal (the representative seal), the kakujirushi is not registered and serves to mark documents as officially issued by the company.
Common uses
- Invoices (請求書) and quotations (見積書)

Frequently asked questions
When is the kakujirushi used instead of the round seal?
The square seal marks issued documents like invoices and quotes; the round representative seal (maru-in) is reserved for contracts and registered acts.
Is the kakujirushi registered?
No — it is an unregistered business seal. Only the round representative seal is filed with the Legal Affairs Bureau.
