About this seal
Licensed architects in the US seal drawings and specifications submitted for permits to show they were prepared under their responsible control. Each state's architecture board sets the seal's content and often its size — commonly the architect's name, license number, the state and the words Registered or Licensed Architect. Seals may be embossed, inked or applied digitally with a digital signature where the state allows it.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between an architect stamp and a PE stamp?
Both are professional seals regulated by state boards. An architect's seal says Registered or Licensed Architect and is issued under the architecture board; a PE seal is for licensed engineers.
What size is an architect's seal?
It depends on the state — many specify a diameter of around 1½ to 2 inches. Set the size in millimeters or inches in the editor to match your board's rule.
