FAQ

Can it unlock a PDF without the password?

No. A PDF that needs a password to open can only be unlocked with that password; nothing here guesses or cracks passwords. A file that opens without one but restricts printing or copying can be unlocked once you confirm you have the right to edit it.

Which encryption types are supported?

The standard PDF password security used by Acrobat and almost every other tool: RC4 40- and 128-bit, AES-128 and AES-256. Certificate-based (public-key) encryption is not supported.

Whose files may I unlock?

Only documents you own or are authorised to change — your own statements, for example, or a file someone shared with you together with its password.
